WhatsApp groups get four new catch-up features
WhatsApp is rolling out four features for group chats: pins that never expire, sharing recent messages with new members, a status only one group sees, and a filter for mentions and replies.
What it means for you
In busy groups you can find the messages meant for you faster, and new members don't have to ask what they missed.
What to do
Update WhatsApp from your app store. If you don't see the features yet, they should reach your account over the coming weeks.
The details
Pinned messages used to expire after 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. To show a new member what they missed, tap their name in the chat. A group status disappears after 24 hours like any other status. The new filter lists unread group chats where someone mentioned you or replied to you, including @everyone mentions from admins.
