What it means for you

If you downloaded a ChatGPT or Claude app from GitHub or a random site, it may not be the real one.

What to do

Get the apps only from openai.com, claude.com or the official app stores. If you ran one from GitHub, scan your PC with your security software.

The details

The downloads include a real, signed program from OpenAI or Anthropic next to a hidden malicious file it loads, so the signature looks valid. The fake apps promise models like "GPT-6 Astra" and "Claude Opus". OpenAI and Anthropic weren't hacked.
